絕對贊成, 所以我都比我個仔重讀 K1 , 即係讀左四年幼稚園, 但我冇後悔, 佢而家讀緊三年班, 學習同理解能力非常好。佢讀幼稚園時, 有個同學八月尾出生都係 K3 重讀。

以我個人意見, 絕對贊成你個小朋友重讀, 起碼佢去到小學時唔駛咁辛苦。

Just being curious. Can the kids born on Sept 01 wait for one more year? but those born on August 31 cannot have this option?

Hi,

Let me share my experience further.

I've known many parents with kids repeating in kindergarten. Until now, none of them show regret since they can see their children performing very well among the classmates. But most of the repeaters are the boys and have been recommended by the teachers to repeat. That means, they were observed to be lag behind the class at that moment.

Seems that your daughter is okay in general, is it necessary to repeat?

My daughter was generally okay in K2 except a slightly lack of attention and confidence. Speaking, writing and motor development were fine at that time. We considered repeating because of the "Year of Dragon" effect in addition to her development.

I chose to wait and observe in the first few months of K3 and I didn't apply for the first round of allocation (just to reserve the right to repeat). I did see a huge improvement in my daughter in that period (may be bigger the kid, smaller the effect of age). I decided to let her go ahead at that time inspite the objection of my hubby (mainly considered the dragon effect and the pressure of study). It was a bit uneasy. Luckily, she can still be accepted by our favourite school by "knocking door" even under the dragon effect.

p.s. You can cancel your application for P.1 allocation before middle of May and reserve the right to apply again the next year.

That's my story and just for your reference only.

小女是99年11月底出生的, 記得考K1時, 幼稚園校監苦口婆心勸我不要讓女兒讀K1, 入讀BB班, 當時我都是半信半疑, 與姊姊相量, 她說小朋友讀書是靠自信心, 故此最終我接受學校安排, 讓女兒入讀BB班.

當她升K1時, 剛巧我們搬屋, 在家附近有一間程度較高的幼稚園, 而且是一中一英班主任, 朋友們勸我既然現在囡囡是大女, 為什麼不讓她轉校讀一間程度較高的幼稚園, 心想這亦是不錯的提議, 故此幫她轉校.

現在女兒讀K3, 是班中大女, 雖然她比較文靜, 但回到學校, 她很開朗自信, 經常協助老師, 我覺得當年的選擇十分正確.

至於升讀小一, 由於我們選擇活動教學, 傾向國際學校形式, 故此報考了四間直資及私校, 最終兩間OK, 兩間WAITING LIST. 其實女兒各方面都表現不錯, 但最終賽果都不是太理想, 如果她是細女, 我更不知結果如何???

If the child was born in August, and you repeat one year, he/she will turn 7 years old when he/she starts P1! In this case you will lose the ten "age" points.

Dear 碗碗,

My girl was born in Dec 2000 also, this question I almost had asked every teacher of my girl since her playground to now K3. Most of the teachers said my girl is not very bad on academic but except the emotional control and independence , of course she would not be the most briliant one among all classmates. MOre, she's the shortest in the school, one of her classmates is higher than her a head. But all of the teachers did advise me it's not necessary to repeat.

So I let her joined a lot of activities to build her self confidence. Although my girl hasn't be the most brilliant girl in the class & I still don't know if I would be regret to let her be a small girl in Primary school, but I think it's not so bad to let her try, as far as your kid grow, you will find that she will improve a lot, even I still think my girl sometimes is so "baby".

Therefore, if basically your kid's overall standard is not behind so much, it will be fine if you let her join some Maths related course.

My daughter was born in Nov 00. I understand and realize that some Primary school prefer to choose those who born in early year when interview as their maturity is managable. To be frank, if I were a principal, I will also choose the elder one. Having said that, I didn't let my daughter repeat for one year. I will take it easy and let it go. Try to help younger kid develop a habit of discipline, join external activities to build confidence. Trust your kid can do it!

我孩子是00年10月, k1時, 老師話他差不多是全班最差, (後來才知他差不多是全班最細的學生)

暑假及k2時我開始發力, 寫字, 溫習, 工作紙, 從不間斷...現時是k3, 已能應付小一的英文及數學功課, 當然, 有很多字要我讀給他聽.

因此, 趁現在發力, 還有時間..
