Re: phonics, which is better??
Hi, all,
I joined the YMCA Phonics class with my daughter when she was 4 years old. It is not a 親子班. YMCA has 2 types of phonics classes, either with or without parents to attend the class. I chose the one that requests parents to attend simply because I want to learn too. He He, I did not know much about this ga.
In that YMCA phonics class, yes, the teacher is an Indian who could manage to teach Phonics with a lot of props, songs, pictures and games. There are some games too. The only problem to me was 12ppl in a class was too many while the teacher could not able to control the 課堂秩序 if some of the kids are active and not attentive.
I agree that if your kid is not used to speak English with foriegners, it is better to start the phonics class with a Chinese teacher. That's what I experienced.
Before I got a filipino maid, my girl was shy to speak in English though she could master well in phonics and in some vocab pronounciation. She was attending an advanced level in another Phonics school with an English teacher. She was frustrated when she was tutored by an Englishman as she could not understand the instructions.
Afterwards, I let my girl study Phonics with a Chinese teacher while her English class in school is taught by a NET teacher. She gets improvement while her day-to-day English is trained by conversation with my Filipono maid.
But this is my own experience only. Maybe different kids have different needs.
