MCS used to take in top students in different grades all the time, and let "bottom" students leave so as to keep the high standard of students. This will always happen no matter it is one-dragon or not. I know La Salle also do the same. It is easier for top elite schools to keep the standard because usually many top students from other schools like to join in at all grades because of its brand. This is the famous brand effect.
