Re: Australian Int'l School....please help
Minty,
Exactly!!!! The tuition fee and Debenture/Capital levy..... they must really take their toll on us!!!
Have you considered any other international schools? As I said, this school is like a copy of schools in Australia. If you don't really need to stick to Australian curriculum (actually NSW curriculum), you can still look for other less expensive schools.
Yes, we saw the students there as the tour actually went in to the classrooms like reception, P1, P3 and some secondary section. They basically looked quite normal, nothing wrong in particular. They are neither too disciplined or too loose in terms of behavior.
From this tour, you can clearly see, the higher the grade, the less westerners in the classes. It is quite obvious. When it comes to a secondary school, it is much cheaper to send a child to a school in Australia or elsewhere!!! And the school encourages the students to embrace their own native languages. I heard some Chinese students talking in Cantonese at the corridor. This is what they say as their policy.
For extra curricular activities, I only know some mom with the kids in AIS primary school who said that there's a good variety but a bit expensive. We didn't apply for the school and we will not due to the reasons I put down earlier. But if you do think of going for this school, of course, it's better to go for the reception, rather than P1. All in all, the selection in P1 gets tougher in many schools, while at the reception, AIS does a group interview with teachers around to observe and ask the children some questions.
In any way, wish you a good luck for your child!!! |
