Both schools are very similar in background academic results. SPS is half-day study but MPS is a whole-day English primary school. I think you may consider half day/whole day and also the school campus. MPS will have a new school building in Sept 2006 at Tai Hang Road. I think MPS is quite good.

why? 我有朋友講st. paul (happy valley)好嚴喎, 而且又有考試, but marymount小一~四都無考試, 而且都係活動教學, 但係篩人好勁喎, 我又唔想俾咁多壓力阿女. 好難選啊, 而且marymount通常第一round都好難入, 通常都係派位派去架喎... 你阿女又係今年選小一啊?

其實半日同成日都係一個問題, 因為阿女有好多活動響下午, e.g. 學琴, 學畫畫, 等... 而且mps有個又靚又新又大o既校舍, 而sps個校舍就細d,舊d,而且又無咁多活動空間, 但佢好在半日, 所以d時間好用d, 而且係中文小學, 我又諗母語教學會唔會好d呢? 真係難選啊, 你又係今年要選小一嗎?

Both schools are good subsidized schools. The difference is that St Paul Catholic is a half-day Chinese school (P1, P3, P5 : pm class) while Marymount is a whole-day English school. In fact, as far as I know, most parents choose Marymount as first choice, St. Paul Catholic as second choice and St. Francis as third choice in the “lucky draw”.

There is no exam from P1 to P3 (pls. correct if I am wrong) in Marymount so students study without pressure. Whilst in St. Paul Catholic, there are dictations every week; 4 tests and 2 exams a year. Although there are a lot of quiz/dictations in St. Paul, students also study happily as the school will not push them without breath, instead, students already get used to this kind of training.

thank you! i c i c, so 如果係你, 你會要marymount. 其實佢都係我o既first, 因為唔使考試... 可以輕鬆d. 但係我住響14校網區, 如1st round唔得, 就要等派位la.

有第三round架咩? 請賜教...

I also like Marymount but it is true that many parents put it as first choice so the competition is high.

I am sorry to tell you that if you choose this in part A in "lucky draw" (cross net), the chance is small.

I think what you mean the third round is "knock door". For St. Paul Catholic, they will let children to have tests in group on Chinese, Maths and English respectively. Parents just sit in the classroom and watch their children. The children answer teachers' questions orally. The parents also know their performance at the same time. There is no interview for parents.

For me I like 嚴school, Test and exam are good for the student, after P1, you will know all the things they can manage and not so difficult for the children. The headmaster was worked in St Paul more than 25 and promoted within this 2 years, she is a very good teacher and use the heart to develop and re-structure the Primary School.

Remember one thing, Marymount haven't test and exam only on Primary 1 & 2. Afterward will have test and exam same with all the primary school but the student not easy to pick up and manage it then the result always will drop on that moment. I saw a lot of this case in this school.

My daughter was graduated in St Paul Primary and promoted to St. Paul Secondary F2 now.

Dear All,

Please concern the Secondary part,  I don't think you just want your daughter complete the primary then change to other secondary school, right?

I know the secondary system have changed this coming year,  please check with the primary and secondary, did they link up and how is the % can promote to their secondary section.  It is very important for your daughter!

For my experience, St Paul primary have more than 85% promoted to Secondary 2 years ago.  But this coming year less than 75% can go the secondary section.

In my case, I sent letters to both schools but only St. Paul granted an interview to my daughter. But I also know one special example, the kid was a classmate of my daughter in kindergarten, she was allocated to other school in net 12 in the "lucky draw". Her mother hasn't sent any "knock door" letter to Marymount, instead, Marymount phoned her mother to ask her whether she was still interested in the school. Now her daughter is studying in Marymount. We all feel that Marymount have put some outstanding students in their record during the first interview. As there was interview in the first stage (discretionary stage): when we submitted the form to the school, the teacher told there would be an interview and asked whether we would like to attend. That was 2 years ago and I know some famous schools have such practice, I don't know whether they still have such request now.

I have reservation about the comment that the academic results of students in P3 will drop. I think teachers have their method to maintain the standard of the students. I have some friends their daughters are brilliant, especially in English. You can also see there will be so many students to sit in the entrance exam from P2 to P4 every year.

St. Paul Catholic is also a good school, but the style is different from Marymount.

又諗下使唔使搬屋呢? 因為有d阿媽為左仔女好多都係 "孟母三遷".
