Re: Yew Chung's IGCSE results
I thin k YC students sit for IB.
The following information from their school web site,
YCIS Students Gain Top Marks in IB
7/12/2005
Yew Chung International School students continue to thrive in the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Twenty-seven students received the IB Diploma in the 2005 graduating class of 28. Twenty-six students were awarded the IB Bilingual Diploma, which means they took English and a second language, such as Chinese, at First Language level in their examinations.
In the complicated IB grading structure, the highest score is 45 and the lowest is 24 for the IB Diploma. IB Certificates are awarded to students below an overall 24. The IB curriculum is considered the most challenging in the world, which makes the IB Bilingual Diploma a particularly outstanding award. YCIS is noted for its strong emphasis on bilingual and bicultural in teaching and learning in both English and Chinese, which allows students to develop fluency in two languages at first language level.
A growing majority of senior students' results are ranking above world averages. More than half of the 2005 graduating class have scored from 35 to 43, with eleven students placing at 30 to 34 and one at 29. All of the 28 graduates have obtained a place in university.
Yew Chung looks to continue to maintain this high level of excellence and projects its largest intake of IB students in the coming academic year.
