HKIS is probably the easiest one among the top 3 (CIS, GSIS and HKIS), due to the sheer number of seats available.
The difficulty is a function of the number of applicants - Last year, there were about 400 applicants for R1, and the school mentioned about 10% of the 160 will go to debenture holder, 20% to family/alumni/siblings - leaving about ~110 seats available for everyone else (about 1/3 chance, which is not too bad). But of course it could change this year.
HKIS do not really take passport into consideration as their passport holders % is already above 80%, so they look at the quality of the candidates more (and there is no parent interview for R1). Last year they mentioned English ability, motor skills, interacting with other kids, collaboration, creativity and resilience as the key metrics for the interview assessment. The interview lasted about one hour (a group of kids taken to another room), but my daughter could not really recall what was going on there except there were some story-telling, playdoh and drawings.
