Hello, among international school in Hong Kong, I chose ESF. My son just got offer from ESF Kinders. The path I paved is talking with him in Eng since birth and now Eng is his first language. I have foreign passport.
Being able to speak and understand Eng is only the basic. The rest is by luck then. Unless you have the money to buy the debenture at 0.5m which will offer you the priority of interview (play visit).
Having a foreign passport may have higher chance, but still by luck if your application no. is lucky enough to be drawn to get the chance of attending a play visit.
ESF is non selective. They only have priority for sibling, staff, debenture. Others quota are filled by lucky draw. Even you pay the application fee, you may not be drawn to have the play visit.
Throughout the play visit, the assessor just observes to assess the parent-child interaction and whether the child is able to learn in a solely Eng setting. They did not ask any academic related questions and need not the child to seat still, so 大仔 has no advantages.
The PN school I picked is international kinder with more focus on free play, reading, etc. My son studies in Joyful where the Eng language learning is excellent.
Staring this year, ESF is a through train school from kinder to secondary IB curriculum, very attractive and competitive this year.
