Congratulations! How’s your child’s English level? Beginner or intermediate/ native?
Does foreign passport help? I’ve heard that ESF schools always hv 70% locals (unlike other IS, which is the other way round) is that true?
Hv u visited the school yet? How’s the student mix?
How much is the capital enrolment fee or (建校費)? It doesn’t say on their website)
my child’s english is more on inter mediate to native level. Yes, we do have foreign passport, guess it helps us to get into the play visit. student mix wise, i think abacus has a good balance of local and non local (guess part of the reason is contributed by its location)
we dont have the pay any capital levy yet, what i understand that is, it is necessary starting from grade 1, but the amount is considered very reasonable when comparing to other IS.

ESF Schools are required to have at least 70% of all students hold a foreign passport (passports other than HKSAR or BNO). PIS Schools (Discovery College and Renaissance College) are required to have at least 70% of all students hold Hong Kong permanent residency status.

Have a school visit , there are just around 4 ( including mix ) foreign students in a class (24 students) in Wu Kai sha or Tsing yi campus. Same in sjs, beacon hill.
A lot of hk families with foreign passport nowadays, and I think Esf also define 內地護照as foreign passport
we went to nais for school tour, assessment and things too. there are quite a lot of chinese faces. but i guess at the end of the day, it is hk, so having a reasonable amount of chinese faces in class is “normal”.
as for fis- it is true that the chinese faces are relatively less than esf and nais.

We went NAIS for assessment also, there are overall around 20 kids being assessed and there was only 1 Indian and the rest are either HK or Mainland Chinese, just wonder the actual student mix in the school, we applied the school tour but now being cancelled, no way to understand more in person. Hope the school can resume soon to discover that.
In their website saying 40 nationalities but don’t know if they are referring to the overall schools around the world or just HK?
