| About the matter of supplementary execrise, I think it should depend on each child. Many of my friends told me their children are not willing to do extra execrise even though the homework. Luckily, I never need to worry about his homework. He will even finish all his homework in school. He feels relax when he finished homework. Normally, I allow him to see 2 TV programs (30mins for each) a day. Actually, he has a lot of free time after back from school. We like friends and share his school life at dinner. However, on the other hand, he knows I'm very serious on his homework. I will check his handbook and all the homework every day. I will blame him if he got some repeat & repeat mistake that he should avoid. I want him to cut the "minor mistakes" habit. I always told him if you use to do your homework by heart and carefully, you dont need to put extra effort for the tests and exams. Therefore, I will give my son a prize if he can keep his homework all correct in a week. Some mama told me they won't check the homework anymore coz they want their kids to bear their responsibility. However, my point is checking homework everyday is a very important step to know if he understands what he currently learn. Also, you know his weakness and strength that you can correct him immediately and you know his study progress. It helps a lot as to build up a good foundation for the kid. I will also share my studying experience with him (we always have good time) To check homework everyday helps me a lot when the test and exam times coming coz I know my son very well. I can strengthen his weak points easily and I know what he has learned so far. I always tell him that mummy always support you and you are not the only one to study. Mummy is even more hardworking than you..........he understands & touching. I ask him to do extra execrise coz he is willing to do. Esp for Maths, he can calculate very fast coz he is easy to catch the questions by doing different kinds of questions daily. For example, if there is 45mins for a Maths test, he can finish all the questions within 20-25mins. Then, he will use every minute to check and review the paper again and again. Of course, I know I have to draw the balance for his daily life. Therefore, we will read story books, newspaper, watch TV programmes, play TV games.............as well. He never feels pressure on studying coz he knows his mother is alwasy standby him. |
