英國的 Msc 和 MPhil 本來就很不同。

HK MSc programs more for mainlanders, taught program, universities take it as revenue generation, students take it as gold plating before moving to other countries for further studying or back to mainland for work.

A couple years ago, the mainland student complained about a MSc program delivered in English and Cantonese, they requested for PTH.

Really go for another level in education, MPhil is a better choice, a real research degree for PhD preparation or as compensation for not getting a PhD.

我同意MPhil與MSc不同。 M Phil是以理論為目標，而MSC的目標是實用的。因此，在學術上的理解方面，MSC 很難比MPhil。 DBA（工商管理博士）和Doctor of Philology （PhD ）。

Please note that most local universities offer the programs of DBA, MSc, MBA to earn money. They play around of practical matters instead of academic research.

I quoted an article in my blog with some of my comments about this topic years back, have fun.
DBA vs PhD

One more point, I prefer overseas DBA instead of local DBA. HK DBA in general like an extend MBA, you may need to repeat some of the MBA programs. In some overseas DBA, the prerequisite is good first degree and either a good MBA or MSc in management. If you qualified, not many lectures, can be just 4 modules

1. Introduction of research
2. Quantitative methodology
3. Qualitative methodology
4. Literature Review and critique

The framework above helps student to clarify their research questions, methodology and the first two chapters and start your research.

Thank you for your replies. In fact, the universities offer the DBA and MSc programs to attract the professionals to study. The can spend their part time evening to complete the programs. In case they study MPhil or PhD, they have to spend full time to complete the programs, these programs would not be available for those daytime professionals. For these DBA or MSc programs, the universities emphasise the practical applications instead of academic research. The candidates would study your aforesaid 4 programs per your proposal then prepare the dissertation to complete the programs.

MPhil and PhD/DPhil are normally research based, Msc are taught courses. Msc are about learning known facts, which are normally easier.

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.

I did some research and took a overseas program instead of local DBA. Local program wasted a lot time of money on MBA but charged as DBA.

That's what I pissed off.
