What is the difference of DPS/DGS/DBS ?

Dear Parents,

May I know the difference of DPS/DGS/DBS. Are they are all running by the same organization ? Does DPS has any connection with the secondary session of DGS & DBS ? Kindly help and my daughter will be a P.1 student in 2006.

Hi crystalmami,

DPS (Diocesan Preprartory School) is a government subsidy school and will accept both boys and girls from 2005 (before only boys).  That means it is under the Government "Lucky Draw".  You can select this school in both Discretionary Place Stage and Central Allocation Stage.  (Website: www.dps.edu.hk)

DGJS (Diocesan Girls' Junior School) is a private school for girls.  You have to note their application date yourself.  (Website: www.dgjs.edu.hk)

DBSPD (Diocesan Boys' School Primary Division) is a DSS (Direct Subsidy School) for boys. (Website: www.dbspd.edu.hk)

By the way, are you in Net 41?

DBS = 男拔 (津貼) 06年轉男女小學   
DGS = 女拔 已轉直資小學 (No need to lucky draw)
DPS= DBSPS = 男拔直資小學 (Also needn't to lucky draw & only for boys)

DPS = Diocesan Preparatory School is a subsidized school that will revert to co-ed this year. So admission is based on the Government Allocation Scheme. With effect from the coming September, its direct relationship with DBS will cease.

DBSPD = Diocesan Boys' School (Primary Division) is a DSS open in September 2004. It is a feeder school to DBS, also a DSS.

DGJS = Diocesan Girls' Junior School, a private school, is a feeder school to Diocesan Girls' School, a DSS with effect from the coming September.
