Don't worry about whether yr child is able to adapt to either MCS or Holy Family and don't get scare about the standard and requirements about these schools. All primary schools in HK, except those international schools and ESF schools, are getting more and more competitive and demanding to students. All schools are trying to upgrade their image and standard so that they are able to recruit enough students.
But luckily our kids are getting a lot more smarter and their ability to learn is amazing. So I think yr girl is able to cope with the environment and study happily at MCS.
The % of SC girls to MCS is not that high, actually. In my kid's class there are 12 girls, 1 got to MCS in the 1st round and 2 in the 2nd round. Some are still knocking the door and awaiting for the final result. So I think in the most only about 20-25% of SC girls be able to go to MCS.
SC girls in general are good at Phonic and they have a bit more confidence. So comparatively speaking they can have a good start at MCS. If yr kid is coming from other kinder and you worry about her performance in P1, you'd better take this summer to gear up her language skill - take her to the library and let her to read more English books (Oxford Reading Tree series are good and easy to learn) and to attend Phonic class.
