I have just done a little bit of research on the new SAT vs. ACT.   It seems that the differences are:
 (1) The ACT maths are slightly more advanced.
 (2) The ACT allows you to use a calculator on all the maths problems, but you are not allowed to use a calculator on half of the new SAT maths problems.
 (3) All the ACT maths problems are multiple choice.  20% of the new SAT maths problems require you to fill in the blank.
 (4) The new SAT doesn't have a science section.  Even though the ACT has one, it really has got nothing to do with science.
 (5) The optional essays are different, but neither one is harder than the other.  They are just different.
 (6) The new SAT gives you far more time per problem.  The ACT is far more time intensive.

After changes were made to SAT in March 2016, it seems that both tests are now pretty much the same and people say (6) above is the main difference.   Any views or comments?  Thanks!
