Hello calcal,

Tks for your info.  I called the centre and they replied that at present they've no group lessons for beginners.  Group lessons for Grade 3 or above only.  Individual class of course okay lah, but very expensive, $400/class (1 hr).

Do you know this centre is good or not?
If good, $400/class may worth.

Or perhaps I will try to organize a small group by myself.

妳小朋友四歲多, 學大提琴妳怕唔怕佢會辛苦?! 是他自己喜歡的嗎? 我女八歲多, 學了大提琴九個月左右, 有時見佢練習起上黎, 都很易會感到疲倦!

妳都講得好arm, 其實我而家只係週圍問下同埋醞釀下。真係學男仔可能起碼都要足５歲好D. 今朝打去Ultrasound Music 問時, 雖然冇班arm, 但聽電話staff都好helpful, 問我囝囝幾歲及幾高, 然後話以阿囝身高, 都可以學, 但要用1/16 琴.

妳囡囡用幾大既琴啊? 佢係邊度學?

我都問過呢間，係好貴~~但佢o地話教好多學校o既興趣班，對慣小朋友，識點教佢o地~~其實學費係琴行同導師對分，所以我覺得唔值~~
我依家o係一間琴行學緊，都係初學~~學費$780/4堂，一對一~~

我囡一開始就用 1/2 琴到依家, 老師說用到中學都不用換了; 阿女依家跟緊私人老師, 但她好像沒收太細的小朋友; 妳小朋友有冇學緊其他既樂器, 好似鋼琴之類呀?

I think for 4-5 years is too small. My daughter started at 6 years old who is a tall girl, she used 1/8. Now she changes to use 1/4. Taller kid with longer figure, if fingers are not long enough, they hard to play cello. You can consider violin first.

If a good teacher, it worth $400/hr, even for a beginner. her posture is very good, it is commented by Music Office teacher. I'm very happy my daughter will be taking G.3 exam this year. She's around 8 years old now.

Hello Zoey and other mamis,

Tks for your sharing. My son has been joining Tom Lee's music course since 3-yr old. Now in the class they are required to play some simple songs on piano. Generally speaking he's a fast learner and shows interest in music.

I think both violin and cello are difficult. Between 2, I will choose cello.

It seems that if start earlier, we need to change size of cello frequently, from 1/16 to 1/2, etc.

Any idea how much it will cost ?

其實都唔係一定要 1/16 開始, 好似我女咁, 1/2 對佢黎講都稍大, 但都一樣 handle 到, 同埋通常可以將部舊琴轉讓番出去; 琴本身當然有平亦有貴, 一般在 Tom Lee 買要 around $4k, 我自己在轉營樂器既 trading 買只係約 $1.5k, quality 也不會差
