I have no art knowledge to judge but I will tell you how they teach my 4-year old since the first lesson.

Every lesson, my son will come home with a beautiful picture, professionally drawn. Everybody can tell that it is not my son's work. After several weeks, I went to the centre and ask Mr. Wu directly what approached they adopted for teaching young kids of that age. He explained that they were training the kids basic skill. When I asked my son which part of the picture was drawn by him, he told me that only a minor part of the color was "filled in" by him. The rest was the teacher's demonstration. He showed no sense of ownership for those pictures.

I would like to hear comments from other parents on this approach.

Yes, I saw the picture there is very very beautiful and professional. Very attractive.

How long did you son join their courses? Will you continue? How much per lesson?

我都有去胡洋睇過及詢問有關情況, 但我唔太認同佢既一套(教幼兒畫畫), 可能大d既學員跟佢學會好d, 但幼兒就唔多合適

呀囝5歲時學咗4堂我就停學，第一堂呀囝畫了一幅大雄，我一眼就睇出唔係呀囝畫，於是問呀囝上堂的情況，佢話老師帶他入一間房，有好多幅畫，老師叫他選一幅，然後好似有部投射機咁，他原先選個幅畫就會影落張空白畫紙上，之後呀囝就跟住個影畫，再填色，幅畫背景畫咗D樹、草、雲....是老師畫的。一幅好靚的畫就是這樣完成。

呀囝是兩年前學的，學費$7xx幾。第一堂放學後，老師問我想呀囝用水筆還是水彩，他們油水彩是用毛筆，心想用毛筆油可以學埋執筆姿勢，比咁多錢學費無理由用水筆。跟住佢就介紹一套唔記得係唔係羊毛做的毛筆$9xx幾。

My girl took lessons there when she was 6 as we were living in Royal Ascort at that time. I didn't appreciate the way he taught kids -- just by imitation. That Mr Wu was very money-minded. He made you buy a plastic board during the first lesson, around $200 something. Then he made you buy a set of brushes, around $900. When he held exhibition, he made you pay for the framing of the pictures and he said the lesson would be held in the exhibition venue by appreciating others' works, that means no compensation lesson would be arranged. Finally I got fed up and stopped the class.

呀囝喺荃灣JOVIS ART學咗一年多，小組形或上堂，兩星期一個主題，畫室提供畫具。老師會讓小朋友認識名畫家的背景和作品，著重啟發思維和創作。好似母親節嗰個星期，老師派給每個小朋友一枝康乃馨，然後讓他們認識康乃馨的英文名、顏色、形態.......跟住小朋友就對住實物(花)畫了一幅畫，再用相架表起來，讓小朋友送給媽媽(連埋枝花)。
呀囝還在另一畫室學水墨畫。

Dear all,

I also live in Royal Ascot. My daughter (7 years old) groups with 2 other kids to form a small Art class at home. I hire an Art teacher who is my friend to teach the group once a week. She is an Art teacher in a nearby kindergarten. She is very patient to teach small kids & knows how to stimulate their interest in drawing. I think it is very important that the picture should be drawn by the child instead of the teacher, no matter how it looks. My daughter has tremendous progress in drawing after joining the class. Small group is also a benefit. The teacher only charges $200 per lesson (shared by the group). Interested persons can PM me.
