我地住英國,因老公工作問題,我小朋友今年5歲冇身分證,係咪只可以揀國際學校?定可以讀直資私校?邊間國際冇咁貴?我見好多間都要買債券,人工有限😔

Do you or your husband have HK permanent resident status? Not sure about the rules for DSS schools, but some international schools (e.g. Renaissance College and Discovery College) do give a slight preference for children of HK permanent residents.

Other than expensive "International Schools", some of the foreign parents I know send their children to the following schools:

1) Catholic Mission School / 天主教總堂區學校 (http://www.cms.edu.hk/) - It is a Direct Subsidized/Aided School. As such, school fees should not be too expensive.  Heard that 40% of the students are foreign nationals.  It is really like an International School.  It is located in mid-level. But no kindergarten.

2) 西貢中心李少欽紀念學校 (http://lsy.edu.hk/testsite/home.html) - I think this one is a government school with no school fees. Located in Sai Kung, it has a good number of foreign students due to a large population of foreigners living in Sai Kung.  Heard that they customize their curriculum for these foreign children (but amazingly, many of them do speak Chinese). But no kindergarten.

3) Hong Kong Adventist Academy / 香港復臨學校 (http://www.hkaa.edu.hk/) - Located in Clear Water Bay (Close to University of Science & Technology) It is a private school so it is more expensive (primary section - HK$7,200/month). Students can choose to live in school (boarding) from Form 1 of secondary school.  One of the most beautiful campuses in Hong Kong.  It was started by the Adventist Church of America.  This one has a kindergarten, and all their class teachers are native English speakers (I imagine mostly from America with Christian beliefs).

The above schools do not require debentures.  When will you guys come to Hong Kong?  And how old will your child be when he/she gets here?  Need to determine whether he/she should enter K3 or Year 1?

Most schools in HK are different from the UK. Children here go to kindergarten for 3 years (K1 - K3), whereas they go for 2 years in the UK, and enter into primary school one year earlier.  In Hong Kong, only a few schools do that (ESF and other British based schools).

Don't worry about HKID.  All foreigners enter into Hong Kong with valid visas can apply for a HKID, and therefore their children are entitled to enter any schools that accept them - private, aided, or government schools.

Correction:  Valid visas meaning "Work Permits", or other long-term stay permits. And they can apply for HKID , but not permanent residence.  But their children can still go to school here - any type.
