Yes, it really differs from school to school. Some you must buy directly from the school but for some you can find one 'out there', some you can register for one before a child is admitted but some you can only register after the child is admitted, for some schools you must purchase one if the child goes to that school but some may not even have one available and you need to pay capital levy instead, some school's debenture is non-refundable (as in your don't ever see the money return to you, usually a small amount) whereas some actually appreciates in value (usually a larger amount). ESF schools has nomination rights and I don't even want to go there.
The key is, if you are going the Int'l route some sort of debenture is inevitable. If money is an issue then it is best to target the schools of choice and ask that few school directly about their debenture system, if that would effect your choice of school. |
