DBSPD parents- can U help?

Can anyone kindly tell me:

How did your kid get into DBSPD?
Were they CCKG graduates?
Will kids with old-boys father (DPS and DBS old boy)sure win?
What are the major extra-curricular activities your kids took that you think are the keys to success to entry to DBSPD?
Did you apply to La Sa as well?

Dear Tangyc,

I am not a DBSPD parent. However, I just heard from my friend whose son is now studying in CCKG K3 that about 30 boys (out of 42 boys) have been admitted to DBSPD this year. P.S. Only around 10 boys have been admitted the year before.

However, I do not know about the admittance rate for the other kindergartens.

Would any parents of the other kindergartens share here information of the admittance rate of their schools?

Would any DBSPD parents share with us here your winning strategies?

How did your kid get into DBSPD?

We applied through the normal channel but I was an old boy.  So they got some extra points.  Other than that, we did not do any thing extra.  Did not seek any favours.

Were they CCKG graduates?

No.  They graduated from Jimmy's Kindergarten at Pokfulam.

Will kids with old-boys father (DPS and DBS old boy)sure win?

No way.  Actually quite a few were rejected.  One of them is even a committee member of the Old Boys' Association.

What are the major extra-curricular activities your kids took that you think are the keys to success to entry to DBSPD?

1.  Good English
2.  Swimming
3.  Music
4.  Kung Fu
5.  Painting
6.  Computer
7.  A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR

Did you apply to La Sa as well?

No.  As an ex-DB boy, I would rather go to another school than to go to La Salle.  No offence meant but it just didn't feel right.

我既囝囝都會於今年讀小一. 情况同DBboy 差唔多 :

1) 冇特別途徑或關係
2) 幼稚園是九龍禮賢學校, 並不是St.XX or CCKG 般出名及英文水評咁高, 但我對學校既中文及德育尤其欣賞. 以我所知亦有幾好背景既CCKG學生考唔到. 羅校長講過, 佢完全了解唔同學校既評分準則. 所以唔會淨係ST. XX or CCKG學生先收.
3) 父親係old boy, 但只在第一round有10分. 2nd interview 就完全冇幫助/加分. 我亦知在第一年收生裏, 有old boy 都有捐款起新校, 但最後個仔都入唔到.
4) 只是一般低收入中產,住幾舊既私人樓
5) 只參加English, painting.
6) 冇參加interview class 因我唔prefer小朋友有壓力咁去interveiw, 我亦相信除了maths, 所有問題都唔會有model answer.

從我既條件, 我唔認為我地係特別優越但我覺得interview 既表現會幫到. 我既小朋友係好開朗, 主動. 我見到咁多interviewer都緊張, 但佢好從容.

其實我覺得佢地既interview內容幾有意思. 我問過我一個幫小朋友做評估訓練既朋友, 佢話佢地用好簡單既方法, 但就可以睇到小朋友既common sense, 聽指令既能力, 空間感. 呢啲全部係小朋友本身, 並不能响interview class 裏有standard answer.

I hope my share can help to 舒緩家長緊張的心情.

You mentioned about learning computer is one of the extra-cirrcular activities that the children should take. Would you mind telling me what kind of computer knowledge they should know, e.g. how to use M.S. Word, Excel, or others?
Can you give me more details about this area?

My son also got a seat in the coming P1. I think a self confident boy is what DBSPD wanted.

請問妳那個幫小朋友做評估訓練既朋友, 係用D乜嘢簡單方法, 睇到小朋友身上既common sense, 聽指令能力, 空間感. 可否講多Ｄ給我們聽？她是否言語或兒童心理治療師？

請問你的囝囝在interview時, 老師們問了他什麼問題呀? 是不是只是問他age, name, address等等simple questions? 還是一些常識問題呢? if so, 會是什麼問題呢? 可否help me. thanks ａ　ｌｏｔ！

The questions they were asking are in 1st interview :

1) 你媽咪幾歲呀 ? Ans : Ha Ha, 我唔知
2) 你住幾樓 ? Ans : XX樓
3) 平時邊個同你睇書 ? Ans : 亞太同姐姐
4) 亞太係邊個 ? Ans : 係我媽咪既婆婆
5) 請你在圓形的右邊畫一個三角形, 再在三角形上面隔一隔畫一個正方形. 但唔知佢啱幾多.
