Jolalee, u are so kind to share your experience to us. For me, if I started to ...
For other schools to apply to, see my post12#
發表於 前天 11:04 , and I forgot to add ESF primary to the list. Since you mentioned that Chinese is important to your family, do consider SIS & ISF. You may also look into IMS primary, but I'd only recommend this school for parents who believes in the Montessori system and preferably have their children Montessori trained in kindergarten. I am sure there are many other options beside these.
As a general rule, schools with the mass intake at K2 or P1 and only accepts application 1 year in advance are good options (or that the date of application date is not a considering factor as long as it is before the deadline). I assume your child is born in 2011, and that is before Sept 2011? (Since she's already 3 years old now) Most schools calculate the child's age of entry by either the calendar year [jan-Dec of the same year] or school year [Sept-Aug]. (AISHK is the odd one out due to the Auz calendar; you just have to check their website for their exact calculation] I just hope she is not born in sept-dec 2010 otherwise she have missed a large chunk of options.
Again, apply to 5-6 schools in hope of getting into 1. That's the rule of thumb. Study each school to decide which ones to apply. Go for a few "dream schools" but keep at least 2-3 easier options as backups. (But sometimes the easier ones turns out to be harder to get in, so good luck!)
For preparation just wondering if your family is doing one language per parent? That's the most ideal way for a child's multi-lingual language acquisition. Always stick to the language you've decided to speak, never do chingish (two language mixed within a conversation).
