I am considering if I should move my child to SIS secondary from another interntional school. Could existing/prior SIS parents share your opinion regarding :
- The overall teachers' teaching style : punishment vs positive encouragement / result oriented vs patient to focus on students' strength & weakness / personal individual vs. group delivery / any others to share? Good or bad!
- Class size in secondary
- pressure on tests/exams
- computer usage - Do students need to bring their own laptop to the school everyday like some other international school? or using those provided by the school when at school and use one's own at home when at home. No need to "bring" everyday.
- displicinary system - e.g. warning on certain kinds of misbehavior; once reach a certain number of warning, elevated to higher level of displicinary actions/records, etc.
- Subjects that SIS and majority students good at? Maths? Science? I heard. Is it true from insiders' perspective?
- All in all, are students strong in bonding with peers? Are they happy with the school? Any issues/points to pay attention when child joining from Secondary instead of from SIS Primary? Any concern of isolation for this kind of cases?
- Is it a through-train from IGCSE to IB? Under what conditions that students cannot be promoted to IB after IGCSE?
These info will be very important to our decision. Greatly appreciate all sharing, good or bad ones. Thank you.
