My elder son is quite satisfied with the present host family arrangement. As this year is his final year of secondary school study, just let it be.

My elder son also prefers Emirates to Qatar as Emirates is more comfortable and he had an unpleasant experience of misdirected luggage for Qatar flight.

I would ask my younger son's school whether coach service is available from Heathrow to school. If the coach service is available, I will pick up an airline which matches the timeslot of the coach. Otherwise, I will also book Emirates.

I am not yet decided on whether my wife will also accompany my younger son to UK. Most likely I will book Air France to France touring first before going to UK.

Lake district - a very good suggestion as I have not been here before.

Depending on the schedule, I may visit Edinburgh as well.

For UK passport holder, your kid is UK citizen.

Of course, no need to apply working or student visa.

If your daughter is a British Passport holder, then no visa is required.

現在的英國中學, 分兩大類, independent school (私校) 及 state school (公立學校), 而公校又分兩大類grammar school/academy school (selective 要考入學試) & comprehensive/community school (只憑居住地址入學). 佢地而家啲學校唔會用public school 命名

Yes, I know. Like Eton, but as what I said, normally they don't use "public school" as their school name. That is what I mean.

If state school, u need to pay a portion school fee.
If private schools, of cuz u need to pay school fee.

Oh, I didn't realize they gave wrong info. The school agent is not professional then.
I have some knowledge of state boarding school as my kid is studying in there.

not automatically, children's status dependent on the parents' status. if you are a uk passport holder you are a UK national but not citizen. to be a uk citizen you must at least have an intention to stay in the UK for the foreseeable future if you were born in the uk but if you were neutralized you must have stayed ( the definition of stay is leaving the country for no more than 60/90 consecutive days and no more than 180 days a year- just a ball park figure) in the uk for the last 2 years (i believe this is the figure last time I checked). So therefore even expat who went aboard but come back to the UK temporary are not entitled to public funding (i.e. school or nhs). The government is clamping down on people "misusing" public service and they will go to a great length to stop you from accessing those services.

I have no idea about america but you will need a visa and pay international fee like everyone else if you are British.

I moved back to UK last summer because of my daughter. I'm considered an expat (i was born and raised in England) I was able to enroll my daughter at a local college, register with the local GP and even able to claim child benefits. I'm not sure about housing benefits and income support though.
