Agree
teachers are nice and patient
students can learn through play
over 99% students enter efs
I like this school very much

Thanks! May I know is English the only teaching media? Is there any Mandarin class in Starters?

Besides, how is the paving to Primary school for students grad. from Starters?

Is there any open day of Starters?

1. yes, eng is the only teaching medium in the school. No cantonese or mandarin. You must find other resources to improve your child's chinese.

2. All the students will go to international pri sch, or go back to their home countries with their parents. Most of them go to efs, some will go to sis, etc

3. All the teachers are native speakers and most of the students are not chinese.

4. what i said above is only applied to the wanchai sch. i do not know how it runs in the causeway bay sch.

5. no open day. but you can make appointment with ms winnie, the secretary, then you can have a visit to the sch.

6. the sch ad the facilities are old. but the principal and the teachers are good, esp mrs morton. she is the one who teaches my child for one year. when my child first go to this sch, he is 3 yrs old n can only understand individual words(we talk in chin in our family n our maid is indo and cannot speak eng ) .after 1 yr studying there, my child can speak quite fluent eng now (sentences) n of course can understand n communicate with the teachers. during this period, we have done nothing to improve his eng. what we have done is just send him to this sch. it is because both my husband n i have to work for long hours. our plan is to find one good maid to let him eat better, to find one good sch to keep his eng, so we can talk in chin n play with him if we have spare time.therefore, i know that the progress of his eng can be impreteted as the efforts made by the sch.

Dear orancarmen,

My child was also teached by Mrs Morton whom I appreciate very much too. He is now in 3a of which the teacher Mrs Grabuck has just gone. Is this the same as your son?

1/yes, the new teacher, ms tracy, will come in april.
2/as far as i know, there are 20 -25(max)students , one teacher n 2assistants in one class.however, since i have mentioned before, we are working mum n seldom visit the school. therefore, i am not quite sure in this pt. Correct me if i am wrong.

you are right.
what i have mentioned is just the good side of this sch.
but we all know that nth is totally good in the world.
there must be some weakness accompanied with the strengths.
however, luckily the name of the school has already told you sth. the hints behind must be experienced personally.
it is not a serious problem, once you start, later you can "fly". haha....

orancarmen, I have just let my son study the afternoon class (Learn thru Play) in March as well, hoping that he can improve his English/Social skills more and his time is well occupied. Have you thought of this? It's good to know another Starters mum here as the school is not so transparent.

joyjoyma, I also want to know if you have any idea about Tracy Anderson. Are you also one of Starters parents?

I called Starters yesterday and they said Mrs Grabruck has already conducted assessment on each child before she left, and if the child is below standard then the parents would be informed.

I'm not a parent of Starters. I met Mrs Tracy once in Woodland since she taught there b4. She 's very nice and speaks very good English.
