I share exact sentiments with all of your comments. In my opinion, language development is the most important foundation at this stage. Other academic or knowledge can come later. With a good command of language, it makes all learning more effectively and interesting. Anyone can challenge this, but one cannot deny the importance of English being the first international language. Every NET English speaker has her/his own accent and that should not be a big concern as long as she/he speaks proper English. We cannot "learn" a language, we have to be immersed in that environment to pick up the language. Considering that most of the local families speak Cantonese at home, school becomes the crucial media for the kids to pick up English.
Of course everyone's expectation of English is different. I personally consider it to be very important. I am sure KV is a good school and is popular for good reasons, but those reasons are not what I am pursuing. Again everyone's expectations and priorities are different, so there is no need to argue actually, but just positive sharing and perhaps you will be able to see it from a different perspective.
