The first round is around 2nd week of September. Net 41 does not count in first round. However, when you send in your applicationto MCS (as to all other government schools as well), you have to attached a copy of your current address. If you move into Net 41 in July, it is still OK because you will get your bill on time by late August. But the problem is if you move in Net 41 that late, you won't have good choice with attractive rent if you are thinking of renting an apartment. As you are competing with other parents who have the same plan. When you fill in the application form to MCS, you already have to fill in the NET 41 on it. HOWEVER, NET 41 does not count in this stage.
After you got the result from first round in mid Nov, if you are unsuccessful, by default, you are eligible for 2nd round which you have to send in the form in early January the next year. By this time, your NET 41 is already recorded in the Education and Manpower Bureau. So if you are not in NET 41 between Sept to Nov and you are unsuccessful in the first round, you can still move to NET 41 in December and inform the EMB that you have moved to NET 41. But you have to think about the limited choice of apartment in NET41.
Success rate in Marymount is higher in 2005/2006. I know friends whose daughters get 20 points all get in. In addition, all applicants to MM in the first round are invited to have an interview, but this hasn't been the case for MCS.
Success rate in MCS in first round 2005/2006 with 20 points is <50%. This school is having her 150 Anniversary this year. You can image how many alumni she has.
As you may notice in the discussion forum, the overall rating of MCS is higher than MM, in terms of HKCEE results and musical achievements, etc.
