My kid was studying in RC and is now in BHS. Do not even expect too much from RC (or in general, international schools) about the Chinese level. Afterall, those kids who are good in Chinese are all trained from outside or from home.
I found that the school may be using the same textbook as those in local schools, but it is totally different in how they learn it. They may just learn part of it and the requirement and expectation on students from teachers is not high at all, when comparing to those in local schools.
So my opinion is that if you pick international school for your kids, do not expect to compare its Chinese level with local schools, as the learning atmosphere for Chinese is totally not the same. |
