As someone whose child is in an ESF kindie (Hillside) and who has been now accepted into an ESF primary for 2013/14, I would definitely advocate going this route again if ESF was my target primary.
I find that ESF kindie (at least Hillside) does a superb job of priming a child to enter ESF primary, not just in terms of preparing them academically to pass the interview (which admittedly is not that strenuous!) but also in the way they socialize them in interacting with their peers, responding to the teachers etc.
Because the kindie is very attuned to what a child needs when entering Year One at ESF schools, I find I am not worried at all about my son entering Primary this coming fall. Moreover, my son already feels very attached to the ESF school name and therefore is not at all stressed about transitioning to a new primary school (as he feels it is just the big boy extension of his current kindie). Plus many of his friends will be going to the same primary, thereby further reducing the stress of his transition to primary. |
