Thanks of panda-jojo. My son aim at top 10 U in UK, if we choose Cardiff can he has a chance in fut ... Stress to your point for UK top ten, LGS and Epsom are traditional prestige schools that top universities will take students from them over Cardiff. Eg if 2 students got same performance from these schools, and there is only one place, preference will likely Not going to the one from Cardiff especially if the offer is coming after an interview. As many tutors in top universities are come from prestige schools.
In terms of academic, there are not much difference among these 3 (perhaps just a few points up or down in A levels %). If talking about environment, both Cardiff and Surrey are nice cities that offer great exposure if students like to look around as it tends to be more free for children to go out by themselves at 16+. While Epsom as boarding school mutually offers more activities than Cardiff. If budget is not your concern and your son is an active-type, perhaps Epsom is better fit, otherwise LGS should be ahead of Cardiff though. (NB: my son is in LGS and I myself studied A level in Cardiff, though, not the same school)
