Thanks for sharing your thought. Whether you should be concerned about an accent (be it Singaporean, American, Australian, British...) is personal. I would agree that how much a child picks up a certain accent from school highly depends on how much exposure the child has on this and other accents at school (at what age the child joins the school, language backgrounds of the child's teachers and friends) and outside of school (language backgrounds of the family and those who the child hangs out most with). There are far more things to consider than just the accent when choosing school - well here we don't really choose schools, we are chosen by schools :) |
