Generally speaking, it's quite tough for Year 6 with lots of homework every week. From Year 7 onwards, there's even more workload for MYP. Honestly the workload for junior forms is low/optimal because of the different focuses, I guess (little homework for P3, some for P4, a little more for P5 but suddenly a lot for P6). Because of the nature of MYP (at RC) that requires in-depth study... students have to keep working with lots of work for both in class and homework...but the British UK curriculum is done in a different way with a large range of subjects with "width" but not "depth"(not required to go deep...). By the way, MYP requires the students to take the initiative to work. If the student is interested in the research topic, it can turn out to be a thesis or even a book that the student writes, but it could be "hea" to the one who shows no interest or is lazy. It really depends. Whether it is "hea" or not depends very much on the individual students...
As for RC Chinese homework, upper primary students have to do "online daily reading with questions that follow" every day (exactly the same practice for local school students), Chinese workbook (that goes with the textbook) when one unit is done, and diary writing or a book report (alternatively). And sometimes students have to give Chinese oral presentations about the IB Unit of Inquiry.
