Re: Leap Pad Book
For my case, my son’s progress was OK at the beginning. He started PA and SA DVDs when he was 6m. I used to play, learn and read the song books with him using the CDs whenever I have time. I then started the storybooks (the brief ones with 4Cds and books), main program DVDs, ABC+ books and story CDs included in the main program. My son liked them very much although he watched and listened to them over hundred times. He sometimes requested a non-stop playing of the CDs (no matter stories or PA or SA) all the day as background sounding. Very encouraging at that time. Btw, he also watched Mother Goose, Zippy, Barney as well. He likes them all. However, after he started nursery in Jun and can only watch TV once (it was twice before) a day, he inclined to MG, Zippy and Barney more. I think it mainly bcos those programs have small children to perform rather than just cartoons in the MP. He likes to watch programs with small children playing which reminds him of his school life in the morning. But he doesn’t refuse the MP if I hold him and watch with him. I left the exercise part of the MP and Fun with Words not yet started.
The situation get worse since my little girl was born in Aug bcos of no time. He can only watch TV programs on his own which makes DWE less and less interesting to him (just cartoon). In fact, I wanted to start the exercises long time b4, but, unfortunately, no time. Anyway I shall try again when I finish BF my girl after 6m. Hope he won’t forget what he had learned b4.
For ur case, I suggest u play the SA, PA, Stories and MP CDs as frequent as u can and DVDs under a controlled manner. Non-stop playing (CDs only) is good if he doesn’t refuse. Another clue is “U do it with them”. Play the toys, read the books and watch the programs with them as much as u can. Kids like all activities with your involvements. It is also a kind of incentive. Hope it helps.
I agree with Sara-mama that the program is good, esp to those children with Eng as their second language, despite that we may not able to fully utilize it. With the DWE training, my son can take up and enjoy other programs like MG, Zippy, Barney and now the leapfrog videos very easily.
