They will seperate your child from you in another room and interact with the child through a variety of puzzles, games, books, and questions. Basically they are looking for an age appropriate level of English interaction. The only way to prepare is to make sure your child comprehends English .
I heard from some parents that HKIS has accepted more students this year from their Reception 1 thru P2 classes than previous years, and it is probably due to expansion of their Primary school in next few years.
I doubt they have the capacity for more students as the new primary building will take several years to construct, starting in 2014.
According to the 2013 school visit, we were told that there are 135 available spaces for Reception 1. Approx 50% goes to siblings, 10% to debenture holders, then applicants from US accredited schools and alumnis.
