Not surprised. I have more than 20 friends from school who are doctors in UK. Their grades are not the best, one got into a top London Uni for Medicine with ABB.
They look at your personality and motivation more than grades. That HK student probably fail his UKCAT and interviews. A doctor needs to be an excellent communicator to understand the patients and gain trust from them.
University admission is like job interview. You need to go through many assessments, from group exercise to one-to-two interview.
NB: Many HK students think that the universities would "incrase" their HKAL results. In the top universities, they don't. If they do, it is mostly from AAA to AAB. Many overseas students get lower offer because they are paying more. |
