My husband told me before, based on the info. provided by ESF website, last year public exam result, Island School result is the best among all ESF schools. But I did not read the data by myself.

Hope it is useful for you.

Hi,

I think the results are different every year, depends on students, teachers and families.    The most impressive success was West Island School in 2010 and Island School in 2011.  Moreover, in 2011 the South Island had the most students rewarded 40+ points while KGV had 6 students超级状元 (44+ points).  They're all brilliant as schools not selecting students,  But still  not that impressed  in comparison with CIS.

There's no perfect school. I would say better to focus on choosing a school with ethics and cultures comforting your children and family.

Thanks Annie!  I have done some more research on the ESF secondary schools and their IB results/university placements are impressive.. and each ESF school seems to be as good as the other ESF schools which is good...

I understand that for 2011, the average IB score for South Island was 34.4, Island was 35.1 and West Island was 34.4.  Even though the results vary from year to year (as annie40 rightly pointed out), I notice that the average IB score for these 3 schools has been on an upward trend for the last 3 years.  For 2011, the average score for CIS was 37 and LPC was 36.35.  So there is still a gap of 1 to 2 points between these 2 schools and the 3 ESF schools we are talking about.  However, if the 3 ESF schools can maintain the current upward trend, then the gap will in due course become narrower.  Looking at these figures solely, I think these 3 ESF schools are doing pretty well especially as they are not competing with CIS and LPC on a level playing field by being non-selective schools to start with.

My son studies at KGV and I think that it is a great school as it is all-rounded. Based on statistics, Shatin College had produced the most number of 11A* pupils in GCSE last year. There must be bad students in each and every school world-wide, it really depends on your child!

You might think that my opinions are biased but then KGV is the best school out of all!

Thanks jaceson.

We are living on the HK side and have no plan to move over to KLN.. so our choice is limited to the 3 ESF schools on my side.

What is your view on Island School vs. South Island (in terms of sports, discipline and academics)?

I personally would prefer Island School, their highest point awarded for the IB diploma was 43. I have quite a lot of friends whose children study there and all of them said that the environment was excellent and nourishing. I am not sure about South Island at all... I apologize!

I like the kids from IS, they're fine and well behaved.
