Hi, I am a Chinese canadian. Last year, I relocated to HK. I am now seeking for your help because I have trouble in choosing a qualified kindergarten for my child.

Can anyone suggest some international kindergartens that have a good reputation in teaching native English and at least some French?

May try Canadian International School as well (on HK side).

However, if your son lives in HK for long, does he need to learn Chinese as well so that he can adapt to the local environment?

Thank you for your advice. Actually, my stepsister was studying at fis. However, it's very hard to get in too ..............

By the way, have your BB join any playgroup? Do you have any suggestion for me? I may try different playgroup first and have a basic idea of what's all about. Thank you.

yeah, I know I still have at least 8 years to stay in HK and it's better for my son to learn some Chinese.
But I am not sure the level of english at those bilingual school. Is it the same as the international school? Anyways, thank you very much for your advice.

A lot of International schools here have bilingual class and international class, the English class of both is taught by native English teachers, so the English standard is quite high. You can see more info. of these schools from other topics of the International School forum.

However, French is not that common here, so not easy to find one with French class as well. Or, there maybe French course from French consulate, not sure if any available for kids.

Seems to me that FIS is the only school that offers French during kindergarten. If other parents know about other kindies that offer French, please share. The Canadian Int'l School starts French from Grade 5. The Alliance Francaise offers French course for children from 9 years old. I would say most international schools here are fairly expensive. You may send your child to French classes but that's gonna cost you another $200-300 per hour.

For French classes: Anfield in Kowloon Tong offer one class per week. (From 3 yrs )

Under 3 yrs old, you can join French classes in Kinder U, they offer it from Monday to Friday morning one hour per session.
