【明報專訊】本地外國商會多次批評本港國際學校學額不足，近日更成為國際議題。美國《華爾街日報》報道，近兩年海外專才來港人數急升，英籍和美籍專才由2009年的3.7萬急升近三成至4.7萬，但不少專才的子女無法在港就學，部分要在家自學或赴星洲讀書，批評港府並無正視。但有國際學校指出，目前本港國際學額不足屬「名牌效應」下的假象，部分非名校則面對收生不足。

朗思收本地生達八成

教育局長孫明揚早前在立法會回應國際學校學額問題時指出，未來數年會增加5000個學額，但難以限制本地生入讀國際學校。去年9月數字顯示，本港47所國際學校中，有4所學校本地生比例達五成或以上，當中朗思國際學校更達81.5%。不過，全港約3.6萬個國際學校學額，去年只有3.18萬名學生入讀，仍有逾4000個學額。

美報指影響海外專才來港

《華爾街日報》昨報道，過去兩年海外專才來港人數急升，今年英美兩地共有4.7萬人來港，其中英籍人士由2009年的1萬人，躍升53%至1.53萬；美籍居民也由2.66萬增至3.15萬人，升近18%。

報道批評本港國際學校學額不足，以致學額輪候時間過長；部分海外專才已選擇移居新加坡，更有英國銀行不再派遣有在學子女的員工來港工作，窒礙本港國際化發展。

協同國際學校去年85名學生中，有近48%為本地生；校長陳紹鉅指出，目前無論海外或本地家長，都紛紛湧向英基、哈羅等「名牌」國際學校，其他非名校卻有剩餘學額。「過往都有國際公司或移民顧問向校方查詢學額，但我們都不敢留位，怕他們會『轉ɜ』；寧願打開大門，公開予合資格學生報讀」。

他續說，雖然擔心非本地生人數會日漸減少，但認為校內近九成教師均為非華裔人士，且學校開辦國際課程，與本地傳統學校有很大差距，不怕校內國際水平會受影響。

朗思國際學校校長蔡麗如稱，今年有不少國際小學收生仍未見爆滿，反映學額未算緊張，「家長來去也只是爭入數間有名的國際學校，才會出現爭崩頭的現象」。她表示，暫未有領事館或國際公司要求校方留位，又認為只有改變家長心態，才可改善現存問題。

誰人會選擇退而求其次？即使海外來的也會選擇文中所提的「名牌」國際學校吧！港府何不注入更多資源，可讓辦得出色的國際學校，向他們招手成為夥伴，可讓來自海外專才的子女入讀？這不是比増加沒人想要的學額更能解決問題？

Mr Suen should ask himself why so many local Hongkongers want to send their kids to international schools instead of local schools, it is a direct result of him messing around with Hongkong's education system.

Be fair to Michael Suen, he is not the one mess up the education system, he is the poor guy to clean up the mess created by King Arthur and Fanny Law.
Fine tuned the MOI is one of the best move when he took up the post.....

Alright, let me modify my post as follows:-

Mr Suen should know why so many local Hongkongers want to send their kids to international schools instead of local schools, it is a direct result of the Hongkong government messing around with the education system.

We can't expect much from him and the current government. Just wait and see who will be the next CE, may have a chance if CY takes up the CE. If not, nothing change for another 5 years.

If CY become CE, then there is a high chance for Fanny Law to handle education though they deny that at the moment.

Who said that HK local kids can't go to International school?  Why HK local kids must study at local school?  Why we can't choose what we want?  

If not 3,3,4 and 求學是要求分數 local education system, I won't choose the international path for my son.

All the partners want to set a easy path to our kid, that's nothing wrong.
