ESF management always only ask for increase in fees, and never reduce their unnecessary cost, such as their bulk adm. cost, wastage of over $100K in duplication of printing ballot papers due to adm. fault, very high fringe benefits for the management...etc.

Actually the govt should offer subsidies to the 70% local residents in form of cash voucher.

Even if all ESF schools change to PIS, the fee should not be higher than that of RC and DC... increase of 27% is very unreasonable!

回復 3# WYmom 的帖子

英基成日都擺家長上枱作為同政府的談判籌碼. 加就係要加,但加27%條數點計?

Yes. ESF shows no sincerity in negotiation with government.
Just bringing up Hong Kong as a "World City" and we need international education (everybody knows that simply fact) without any proposals/action plans how ESF can play the role proactively and is deserved to get more subvention from the taxpayer.
Keep pushing the parents to shout at the government/Legco members without convincing arguments does not really help but it does give a negative image to the public.
I have prepared the worst by spending less and paying more in the coming years...

I still don't understand the logic of asking for more government subsidies as "逾七成學生父母其中一方持本港永久居民身份證".  If this is the case, almost all private schools in HK should have received subsidies.

If ESF tuition fee is shooting up, there is a golden opportunity for PIS (and  other IS as well) to increase their fee.
keep their remuneration packages competitive for IB teachers/management is always the best excuse...

I think ESF is trying to position itself as the "public schools" in the international school sector, which I think is a fair point. 70% of the kids' parents are tax-paying HK residences and should enjoy some form of subsidy just like tax-paying HK parents who send their kids to local public schools. cash coupon could be a way out...

ESF's "1.2萬名學生中,逾七成學生父母其中一方持本港永久居民身份證"

63% of CIS's students were born in HK.  I guess it too has more or less the same percentage of parents holding permanent ID cards.  Shouldn't they be given subsidies as well?   How about those ID card holding parents in Singapore International School?  I am sure the percentage is similar.

fair enough, but I think ESF is also trying to hang on to the point that it is "a historical legacy from the British colonial era", which makes it a bit different to other international schools. this is my own interpretation only.
