Hi all,

I am new to here and so is my son to the Hong Kong education system. He is going to turn 5 in October.

We are sure that we want to send him to international schools. However, it was too late to apply to any IB-based international schools for P1 when we arrived here. He's on the waiting lists, maybe forever. So we found him Hong Kong Preschool for K3 and planned to apply for ICS or other schools this fall.
Things got complicated a few days ago. Anfield is starting their brand new primary school and offers us a P1 position, which starts NOW. So now we have to decide whether to take the offer. As my son is shy, I am worried he was not cut out for the interview processes here even though I think he is smart and nice. We like Hong Kong Preschool, but are worried he may not be taken by any other international schools for next year if we give up Anfield.
I hope I've made my situation clear. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, welcome to HK.
If I were you, knowing that I want the kid to go to an international school for sure, then I think your best bet is Anfield. You can still apply other international schools next year.

I think if you keep him in the international stream for now, his chances for being accepted at other international schools are much higher than going to HKPS now.

The main thing we are struggling about is the uncertainty of the quality of Anfield since it's new and all the good things we see about HKPS.

i will go for anfield because he can adapt to the IS sytem and school life! altho anfield primary is a new school, i heard everything good about their kinder ... so i guess their primary will be a nice one too with the same management team!

Anfield

Agree with what suzanlai said... Anfield is a very good school (for kinder), my kid used to go there and we really felt that they have the good heart for kids (unlike many other schools in HK which are mainly going for $$).  Anfield Primary is new, and no one could really comment... but I do think the school would do their best to offer its best... and they are very willing to listen to parents' comments!!  Good luck w/ your decision.
