請問你的小孩學完phonics，是不是真的能夠自己拼讀英文？

80%到啦, 起碼佢會試, 不過學咗2-3年, 有D佢都唔係太記得啦. 好彩而家小學學校都係教 Jolly Phonics.

阿囡都係喺 jolly kingdom 學咗年幾, 頭一年一星期兩堂, 而家一一堂, 見佢都又鐘意咪繼續 lor, 如果佢唔專心叫佢試讀 or 串, 佢都八成 okay... 我問過佢學校英文老師, 佢話阿囡讀音都好準, 我原先諗住俾佢上 phoinic 同埋 reading d course, 我問佢學校老師, 佢話低年班可以上 phonic & oral, 所以我嚟緊會額外 join 埋 oral & reading 果個 course, 兩個 course 一齊上又平 d. 同埋 d staff 話 oral & reading 係加強 phonics 學到果 d 嘢, 希望真係 la

學好phonics, 80% 可以自己拼讀出來, 最重要, 最受惠是小朋友不用溫書, 默書次次都可以 100分。

就算 unseen 默書都有 9X分。

因為讀過, 識得讀, 就識得拆字, 再加理 phonics rule 就百發百中。

Phonics Rule : Eg :
kn 不讀 K  (knee)
Gh 不讀 h (ghost)
e 前兩個位係响音, 就不發聲 ,  cake, make, Hope ... etc
ght 只讀 t 音  night, light, right, .... etc.
睇過下佢地講的 phonics rule, 真係串字無難度。

最近有本好書, 可以介紹比大家, 非常好, 商務賣 $100-- 有 mp3 Disk.  我個人覺得好正。

希望幫到一眾媽咪啦。

Pls be careful !  I found at least a mistake in the book.  Look at the word "dare" on the last page of the online version (accessible through the link provided by you):

According to the book, "dare" is pronounced like "dei + r" (i.e. long vowel sound of "a") but that's not correct.  It should resemble the sound as in "air".

Well, phonics is a good start for young kids (say of age 2 to 6 years).  However, if one wishes to know the exact pronunciation, I would suggest s/he to get it from the Internet (e.g. http://www.howjsay.com) or better still check it from the dictionary provided that s/he knows IPA.

Or if fortunately enough, the young kids can be immersed in an English-rich environment (provided that it's proper English), they will naturally pick up the language when coupled with lots of reading.  For example, my kid has been encouraged to read since he was a toddler and years ago, he was able to pronounce "wind" in "wind up her toy car" correctly (i.e. not to pronounce it to mean "moving air") b'cos he was read the story beforehand (i.e. he had the environment to imitate).

I plan to teach my kid IPA when he is a primary student.

想乘機問吓各位.我囝囝搵private tutor 學開letterland,勁喜歡及開心,現可識別所有letter sound + 常自己拿letterland 書看/讀/做動作/唱. 問題係學校好快都會教phonics,不過係Jolly. 甘佢會唔好混亂?

最近 private tutor 要轉做 full time kinder teacher,唔可以再教.係唔係應該搵個識教Jolly? 但係會唔會無甘有趣?
