I remembered last year when I found my son's name on the notice board at SFA, I was so happy that I immediately phoned back home.  Time flies.  The messages posted on BK's webiste refreshes my memory.

Back to your question.  My son has been studying in SFA for almost three months.  He has great improvement in English, both written and spoken.  The homework workload for P.1 is acceptable.  My husband is very choosy about school but he is so far satisfied with SFA as he saw our son's improvement in English.  As for the teachers' qualification, you can find it on Primary School Profile posted at Education and Manpower Bureau's homepage.

Class size is quite large: more than 40 pupils.  And Chinese subject is conducted in Cantonese.  Two Putonghua lessons per week.  Reasonable school fee ($18,500 per year).

Would you share your comment about the Mandarin lessons? Is it good enough? Is it conducted by native speaker? Do you find other source to let your kid learning more Mandarin?

My son speaks Mandarin with his daddy. The Mandarin lesson of my son's class is not conducted by native speaker (as described by my son).

My son is in P.1 as well; what I found so far:

1. Curriculum : fast, have finished all the P1A series by now. Would complete the P2A series by end of P1.
2. Emphasize on writing, composition piece is interesting.
3. One E-maths workbook is added on top of the Chi. Maths.
3. Big class size, 4X with >2/3 are boys.
4. Need to supplement the spoken language training. With such a big mass, children do not have a lot of chance to express themselves. (but it's the same issue across the board on majority of the mainstream primary schools).
5. 2 lessons (Reader & Oral) every 6 days conducted by native teacher.
6. Heard that they are working on adding more natives including English and Mandarin teachers but no further or concrete details heard as of now.

現在「宣道」屬九龍城網派位好似幾好，但再過多一兩年，九龍城好的名校男如LS 女如MSC/HY全都必結龍，再沒多位放出來抽，到時九龍城區就沒有名校抽了。

其實你再細心觀察，聖方濟派的學校等級是高一點，就算它不屬於九龍城區，也有四個考到喇沙，而宣小連抽籤也只有五個。

I fully support yr view. If the policy changed again, I'm not sure the place reserved for the best student of Chinese Alliance. Then is it worthy to study at a private school with long journey!!

yes,the tradition of SFA is to accept more boys than girls , usually 1/3 are girls and 2/3 are boys !

The candidates of SFA need to receive written exam for about 45minutes. Which kg the child attending is not their main concern. They only count the mark they scored in that paper.
