I think you need to find his strength and help him to think of what he can do in the future - maybe choose a career path that doesn't require reading/writing, e.g. driving, cooking, drawing, music etc. My friend's daughter is now 18 years old and she has problem in reading and writing, very poor results in school...but she is happy because she is good in dancing, and she knows she will study in the Hong Kong Arts Academy (演藝學院）。

所以最重要係我地而家點樣協助佢地---比D自信心佢地由為重要！發掘他們的長處，再加以欣賞，他們自然就有自信，就算發掘唔到，他有心地善良或關心他人或肯幫助別人，也是長處啊！
我兒中一就係系大光中學讀，讀到而家合拼左成了大光慈航中學，老師的關愛比佢重拾自信，學校又有好多活動比D學生，幫助他們發掘長處及建立自信，他將升讀中六了，好快就要面對社會~~~
