This organization undergoes the principle called ABA (Applied Behavioral Approach). It is, in fact, a comparatively "classic" treatment approach in foreign countries. This approach is something like modifying the kids' behaviors through tangible or social reinforcement. For example, if the kid did something right, he will be rewarded or praised by those "Teachers" (most likely they are graduated in department of psychology). If the kid did something wrong, he will get punishment (removal of reinforcement). These kind of trainings are repeat and repeat time by time and then day by day.....
Some experts said this method of training is robotic since it is modifying the behaviors (secondary problem) of the kinds instead of primary problem. The kids trained may exhibit insufficiency of generalization. (E.g. they can behave well in those training environment but behave poor in using the trained skills at home or school)
Recently some experts, they discover autism is highly related to a lack of neuro-matter in Auti-children's brains. This affect their attention, arousal and thus social skills like eye contact or stereotypic behaviors. You'd better discuss with some professions about your kid's condition. See whether "Behavioral training" is suitable for your kid or not. |
