My daughter had interviewed both schools 2 years ago.  My impression for both of them are good.  Very nice and caring principal, teachers and staff.  Only that Small world is a lot more spacious than KBCK, but at the same time KBCK is much more convenient than Small World since there is almost no public transportation to get there (except a mini van from Central or taxi, of course they have school bus serving HK side).   Small World is montessori based, kids are free to explore at different corners of the class room under teacher's supervision.  But I also heard that some parents only treat it as playgroup (for English Immersion!!) as they have no academic learning (in terms of writing, maths, phonic etc), so they put them in for kids to learn conversational English.  So the pm class has quite a few kids who go to a different kindergarden in the morning.

I picked Small World just because we finally resided in HK island.  Otherwise, both are good schools to me.  I guess you should also pick the one which is closer to where you live, unless you plan to move close to the school you choose.

In terms of acceptance to ESF primary.  I only had experience at Small World, all kids in my girl's class have interview opportunities no matter Cat 1 and Cat 2 (for 2009 Y1 intake only).  And teachers from ESF had visited the school and observed the kids before scheduled interviews.  Mind you that was over a year ago.  I heard this year the application is more than previous years and I am not so sure about the situation now.

Hope it helps.

bohemain,

Thanks for your valuable advice!

We live in Kln side so KBCK is near to us. My child belongs cat2. I worry about the chance for him to get in ESF primary if he will study in KBCK.

Hope other parents willing to share your experience.

i hv no experience on kbck and i highly recommend swck. Lovely school, excellent learning environment, open air, lots of sunshine, minimum air-con, i love it! Teacher ratio is 2 (fully experienced) per 20-22 kids. Children are divided into 2 groups for different activities. Every month has a theme and the kids learn on the theme related topics thr singing, story time, show & tell & artwork. The school use bible stories to educate the children about goodness. English learning is no problem.
My guess is kbck and swck are very smiliar, can't say which one has a higher chance to enter esf primary. It also depends on where you live. It is probably better to choose the one that is closer home.
