If you talk about the differences between other playgroup, I think the only thing is that he would have 2-3 activities each time to train the kids' attention span / fine motor skills or eyes-hands coordination / gross motor skills. After attending 2 courses there, actually I found his knowledge in kids' training is not that professional and he did not have an indept knowledge on some areas. He's far too subjective and every kid whom do not follow his instructions or rules of the game, he would say that the kid is a "right brain" kid, but as far as I know, it's really difficult to tell one is a "right brain" kid or a "left brain" one, and normally we all use the two "brains" together.
Talking about an area for kids to play, of course not. The toys there are limited, old and dirty. He's the only "one-man bank", there're no one to clean the toys or playmats on fixed time schedule. I've had several experiences of seeing babies vomit on the playmats during the lesson but he did not take immediate actions to clean the mats, he just took the mats to the toilets or use tissue to clean it. I felt a bit angry on this especially when there's virus at that time.
The singing and playing together time is really limited. If you want your kids to play in a full of songs and happy area, skykids surely not the choice. It's just the place to learn the activities, which after review, he must have copied these activities from some books.
Talking about the theories, on average, OK la... but for an one-hour section, spending about 15 minutes for the theories, the time for the kids to really play is limited.
So, in general, I think Skykids is not a good one, the tutor is far too $$ sensitive, the toys are old and dirty, the things used for teaching the activities are "cheap" too, cleanliness very bad (I think this is vital for kids and any playgroup), there is no helper. And indeed, his knowledge on kids is really very limited. He did not possess any good qualifications but the comments on kids are far too subjective and not true.
Of course, after 2 courses I won't join the 3 rd one. |
