You can go to:

1. Shanghai Book City in Fuk Chow Road (taxi drvier will know)  there are many book shop, stationary shops in Fuk Chow Road.

2. Xinhua Book Store in Nanjing West Road (you can tell the taxi driver : Nanjing West Road & Shi Men 1 Road)

There are many Xinhua in Shanghai, each store sells different books.

You can also go to the Nanjing Walking Path - Shanghai Book City.  Smaller than the main shop but have plenty of children books, VCD etc..
