[I just copy and paste what I have post under another topic, hope this is useful]

I know parents who have kids studying in this school P1, P2 and P3.  If you considered no exams means no way of knowing the learning progress, you are wrong.  No dictation means kids not able to learn new words, wrong.  They are just teaching in a different way to let the student learn in a more happy or relax way.  e.g. memorise those words through games or singing songs in the class.

The way they structure a topic is quite creative.  e.g. English: They have a song named "5 senses", they teach the student to sing the song first for  learning "seeing", "tasting", "smelling", "hearing" and "touching".  Then they ask each student to name six foods he/she likes that can be sense for each senses.  (e.g. pizza for smelling, coca cola that they can hear the sound etc.)  i.e. In total, they need to find and learn 30 words and able to relate them to each senses.  A few days later, the teacher will play games and talk with them with these words to see if they have learned.

Chinese.  They teach in mandarine for Chinese, you will be surprise about a P1 student who just started to learn Mandarine for a month is able to read the book in Mandarine in such a high standard!!!

Something needs to clarify. HKUGA do have Chin & Eng dictation since P.1. Just don't have "Examination" but assessment instead. However, the assessments in P.1 are pretty simple, kids feels no pressure at all, no intensive preparation necessary. Also we have Chin/Eng/GS/Math homeworks, from 1-4 homeworks daily since P.2. P.1 has less homework and sometimes may not have homework at all. P3-P4 dictation is almost once a week, plus homework; so it's not easy. Kids just don't have much free time since P.2 :( . But for those kids transfered from other typical massive homework schools do feel better after studying in HKUGA. So the work load of HKUGA's couldn't compare to International schools, but just a little better than traditional local schools.
For those people who look for HKUGA, let's consider these: open minded princpals, very nice teachers, interesting classes, i.e English, music, arts and dance classes are conduct more fun and creative than most local schools. Also school arrange different arts organizations and special guests to visit school to let the students expand their horizon. i.e invite disables to talk to kids.....Please check the website if you want to know more. The most important thing is kids love the school and dare to express their thinking, as they'v many group discusstion since P.1.... oh, my hands are tired to write more....Bye!

If you want to find the truth by yourself, please check HKUGAPS website.

For the new HKUGA Secondary School, they will make "reference" to IB courses to develop their own courses.
