Re: How's about Gigamind???(Tin Shui Wai)
I am really glad to meet parents of student/potential student of Gigamind Primary School. My kid is studying in the Gigamind Kindergarten and I am very interested in the Primary session. However, I feel that not so many parents in the district consider this school, perhaps because of its quite expensive school fee and its non-traditional way of teaching.
I agree with the teaching philosophy of this school. However, whilst it sounds so great on paper, I puzzle how the school management make it work. I hope that “Parent” can share with us some first-hand experience.
1. I wish that my kid can learn English and Putonghua from native speakers in a highly interactive way. I think low student to teacher ratio is very important. Will the class be divided into groups of small size (say 5 to 10 persons) for language lessons?
2. Whilst teaching Putonghua, will Cantonese be totally ignored? I want a balanced training for both Chinese and English. Is it 50:50?
3. How the school help students develop creativity and analytical skills? Is there any special teaching method to boost students in these aspects? Are the teachers good coaches for group discussions (if any)? Are students confident to make presentation in front of people if the school has provided such opportunity?
4. Are the quality of the teachers good (in terns of language proficiency and coaching skills)? Do they love students?
5. Is the cost of extra-curriculum activities included in the school fee? If not, how much does it cost (a general estimate)?
Sorry for asking so many questions at one time. Neglect them if they are not practical to be answered. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
