Which two sets of CD/Books your purchased.  I have visit the amazon website but all are in French which I really don't understand. I am afraid to order wrongly.

I have a child and a baby, maybe yours are suitable for me.

In fact I just go to the USA amazon site (coz I think we should look for materials aimed for English-speaking people to learn French) and I've picked these two:  Baby's First Steps in French (USD11.87) and Beth Manner's Magic French for Kids (USD10.38).

I've received the books and CDs yesterday and listened to them already.  Baby's First Steps in French contains a parent guidebook and a CD.  The parent guidebook lays out all the benefits of learning a 2nd language and outlines the concept behind the CD, which is very good.  It also explains the sounds of French which gives parents (know French or not) some ideas.  The CD is arranged in the order of songs, parentese and rhyme, and even divided into sections from newborn to 24 months.  I consider this CD set very good for babies and toddlers to get exposed to French.

The other one, Beth Manner's Magic French for Kids is also a CD.  It is about a magical adventure of 2 children and have songs and conversations (e.g. 1 kid said in English and then the other in French).  I guess children at 3 or 4 (or even older) will be more interested as they can understand the contents.  Songs and the storyboard are interesting.  In fact I'll recommend both to you.

I browsed the web and the price of baby First step is $16.95 for new and $10.91 for new and used. Is it the same of yours??  I just scare to order the wrong one.

Free online video instructional series in French

This video series "French in action" can be viewed from "learner.org".

It is a series of 52 programs realized by Professor Pierre Capretz of Yale University.  The first video "Orientation" is the only program in English.  The others are entirely in French.  Although the series is originally designed for adult learners, my son (aged 9) finds it quite entertaining.  IMO, it's good for those older kids and parents who have started learning French or those who want to have a taste of this foreign language.

You need to register first at the learner.org website in order to view the programs.  The registration procedure is easy and worths the trouble.

The video series is supposed to be used in combination with the books "French in Action : A Beginning Course in Language and Culture, the Capretz Method: Part One" (& also Part Two).  Information of the book can be found from Amazon.com:
