1. School fee is a real concern for me (pretty expensive) - Is it true that there are scholarships which may cover part of the sch fee?
<=== Yes. Check with the school with application procedures.
2. How is the Chinese language teaching - is there any remedial class for kids who only read a few Chinese characters?
<=== Children are divided into classes of different levels. The beginner classes are for total beginners.
3. Apart from the tuition fee, is there any other expenses?
<=== There is this one-time fees of around $1000+ per year (amount different for different year level) to cover costs for things like stationery used in classrooms, exercise books and worksheets, expenses for most school field trips (special overseas and overnight field trips, which are not compulsory though, are not covered), extra swimming coaches for swimming lessons. Books in secondary school are not provided free so students need to pay for their own set. Other things like travelling expenses, lunch, stationery for home use, are probably like everywhere else.
4. I don't know much about IB...Is it true that the universities in US /Canada will accept students writing IB exams?
<=== US and Canadian universities like taking IB students. You may want to do your own research into what individual university is look for (eg IB scores, SAT, etc) and what their policies are in takng IB students. Alternatively, talk to the school about your concerns. They have a team helping out with university placement. You may want to ask them about this.
