A recent newspaper article I found on the disadvantage of having you babies in the summer in the UK.
The article concludes that babies born towards the end of the academic year have a slightly lesser chance of going onto higher education and going to top Oxbridge university

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/education/article4327265.ece

In the case of the Hong Kong international school system, this would be babies born at the end of the year.

Any comments??

Hi 2lovelyboys, one of your boys must be one of them then.. otherwise you wldnt hv started this thread, right?  My daughter was born in mid December but she hasnt started school yet so I cant say yes or no.  But I try not to believe in statistics and not label children when they are still so young.  All children are different.  My step daughter is in Cambridge studying vet and she is in the younger group so I think really every one is different.  In fact, RC and ESF did offer me the chance to delay my daughter entrance a year later so I think here is quite flexible.
Do share your expereince with us.  I wld like to hear.
By the way, when will those stabbing cases come to end end.  Pretty scary!!

Yes,

One of my boys is born in December 2000 and will be starting a year late.  This is because he is currently in year 2 in UK and I do not want him to jump a year in school in HK therefore will be starting in year 3 instead of year 4.  I did not decide on deferring his study because of the statistic, as you rightly said they are "just statistics" and will very much depend on each child's ability.

Do you mean the knife stabbing that are making the newsheadline in the UK or the back stabbing in the "best school in the world" thread.  Yes, both are pretty scary especially  "mum99" has included included me in the arguemnt.  Hope she does not give comment in this thread.
